Old Friends Week

Who's you daddy now?!
The gang...

Seven anglers this week represent a combined 28 visits to The Palometa Club over the past few years. This was further enhanced by four newbies we hope become part of our legacy going forward.

The friends keep coming back! The participants:

Steve Davenport - 6th visit

Frank Sourbeer - 3rd visit

Bob Souder - 4th visit

Bill Sieberling - 4th visit

Tom Reed - 4th visit

Sam Benedict - 4th visit

Chick Marshal - 3nd visit

Ladd Weinberg - 1st visit

Fred Weeman - 1st visit, Danny Klieman - 1st visit, and Ron Reedholm - 1st visit. The week started out fairly good with sunny skies and low wind allowing Frank and Chick to fool a couple of Ascension Bay permit. Then the mercurial weather we've suffered on and off this season came on again. Our days were shortened by high winds, electrical storms and rain but this hearty group stayed right with it. One day of hiding in the mangroves produced four beautiful snook for Tom and Bill along with multiple shots at baby tarpon. The fabulous guides at the Palometa Club simply never say die. "The put us on so many fish" one angler was heard to say. Tom Reed told our manager Dick after one day of fishing, "I saw more fish today then I saw all last year" (which was our club record year). Crappy conditions aside, this group of old and new friends left with big smiles and hugs for our staff.

Danny and Ron drove down from Cancun on their own on Tuesday, caught a non-stop Ascension Bay buzz and then disappeared just as mysteriously a few days later. Hope you fellas made it! Ladd and Fred were old boarding school roomies that get together once a year, usually around a fishing trip. While not successful in their permit quest, they landed several nice bones and were a terrific addition to an already all-star cast. See you all next year!
